The newly-elected National Assembly Member for Niamina West last Thursday took an Oath of Allegiance in the Third Republic after the death of Hon. Demba Sowe last January at a grand ceremony held at the National Assembly Chambers in Banjul.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Momodou A. Sise who administered the Oath of Allegiance to Hon. Sowe who swore to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of The Gambia and to execute the functions of an Honorable National Assembly Member (NAM) without fear or favour, affection or ill will, according to the constitution of The Gambia and other laws of the land.

In an interview with Hon. Sowe after taking the Oath revealed that he would work for the interest of the country and the people of Niamina West.

He then thanked the National People’s Party (NPP) leader President Adama Barrow, party supporters and the people of Niamina West for their trust and confidence by electing him as their representative at the National Assembly.

For her part, Mariam Jack Denton, Speaker of the National Assembly welcomed the newly elected National Assembly Member (NAM) from Niamina West and assured him that his work would be supported and guided by all members and staff of the National Assembly.
