Celebrating African Unity and Partnership: Pan-African Youth Parliament Delegates Experience Accra by Night

As part of the inaugural Pan-African Youth Parliament for Democracy, delegates from across Africa gathered for an evening of cultural exchange, networking, and celebration during the Diplomatic Cocktail Reception and Accra by Night Experience.

The evening provided a unique opportunity for the Thirty-six participants who were brought together from fourteen (14) African countries including Ghana, to move beyond formal discussions and strengthen relationships through informal engagement, cultural appreciation, and shared experiences.

The Diplomatic Cocktail Reception, hosted at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of France to Ghana, brought together delegates, organisers, diplomatic representatives, and institutional partners.

The reception highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing youth participation, democratic governance, and Pan-African cooperation. Speakers acknowledged the collective efforts of the Innovation Foundation for Democracy (IFD), Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica), the National Youth Authority of Ghana, the Embassy of France in Ghana, and other partners whose collaboration made the inaugural programme possible.

Following the reception, delegates embarked on the Accra by Night Tour, an immersive cultural experience designed to showcase Ghana’s hospitality, heritage, and vibrant city life to climax the three days conference.

Travelling aboard an open-top sightseeing bus, participants explored the illuminated streets of Accra while enjoying music, refreshments, and commentary on key historical and cultural landmarks across the capital.

The experience created a relaxed atmosphere where young leaders from different countries namely Ghana, Benin, Morocco, Maurice, Cameroun, DR Congo, Madagascar, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Kenya,  Mozambique, Mauritania, South Africa and Ivory Coast, exchanged stories, built friendships, and reflected on the conversations and lessons from the programme.

Beyond entertainment, the Accra by Night experience reinforced the importance of cultural exchange as a tool for strengthening Pan-African connections. It provided delegates with an opportunity to appreciate Ghana’s democratic history, hospitality, and role as a centre of Pan-African thought.

For many participants, the evening became one of the most memorable moments of the inaugural Pan-African Youth Parliament for Democracy as an expression of unity, friendship, and shared commitment to Africa’s future.

From dialogue to connection, from ideas to action, the Pan-African Youth Parliament continues to build bridges across the continent.
