The President’s Party Candidate Hon. Birom JS Sowe, who stood under the National Peoples’ Party (NPP) ticket last Saturday won the National Assembly Member Seat.

The much-awaited Legislative By-Election has now been filled by Hon. Sowe, since the establishment of NPP this marks the first-ever victory in what many perceived as a undertake test for the survival of Adama Barrow’s newly formed political party.

After announcing the results, Hon. Sowe secured 1718 ballot casts in his possession while his opponent Yerro Jallow got 805 under the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC).

The NPP Party Bearer poured heavily resources during the campaign trail, engaging government officials and cabinet ministers to sell the agenda of President Adama Barrow.

So many promises have been made to the people of Niamina West such as the construction of roads as part of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) projects.

The Gambia Democratic Congress could not secure the seat again after the demise of Hon. Demba Sowe last January.
