The Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin is scheduled to grace the occasion as a special guest of honour at the inauguration of the 1st Ordinary Advisory Session of the President for the National Assembly of Benin and the opening ceremony of its 9th Parliament.

This was by an official invitation extended to Mr. Bagbin by the President of the National Assembly, Louis Viavonou., his long standing friend. To affirm his participation, the Beninese ambassador to Ghana,  Allowe Leo Kabah later paid a courtesy call on the Ghanaian Speaker in Parliament as a follow-up to the invitation.

Based on the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Benin and the mutual interests and benefits shared by the two West African countries, the Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin is expected to deliver a goodwill message in an address to the National Assembly and then deliver a keynote message at the inauguration.

Ghana is seen as a model of parliamentary democracy in Africa. Many countries, especially in the West African sub-region, including Benin look up to it for inspiration and guidance in their democratic journey. This was accentuated by Ambassador Leo Kabah during his call on Speaker Bagbin.
