There has been a number of by-elections that have occurred under the Fourth Republican Constitution of Ghana. These by-elections have been occasioned under varied circumstances but chief among them is the demise of a sitting Member of Parliament. So far, the Fourth Republic has witnessed 31 by-elections with the Assin North by-election as the 32nd by-election as Ghana celebrates 30 years of Parliamentary Democracy this year.

The Election Research Desk of the Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica) has put this information together to inform and guide the discourse as the nation looks up to another by-election at the Assin North Constituency on June 27, 2023. Click the link below for more details.
