There has been a number of by-elections that have occurred under the Fourth Republican Constitution of Ghana. These by-elections have been occasioned under varied circumstances but chief among them is the demise of a sitting Member of Parliament. So far, the Fourth Republic has witnessed 31 by-elections with the Assin North by-election as the 32nd by-election as Ghana celebrates 30 years of Parliamentary Democracy this year.
