Le Réseau de presse parlementaire africaine (APPN) salue l’intervention du Conseil exécutif de l’Union africaine (UA), le Président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, S.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, et les autres organes politiques de l’UA qui travaillent assidûment et harmonieusement pour assurer que l’incompréhension qui a conduit à la perturbation des travaux de la quatrième session ordinaire de la
cinquième législature du Parlement panafricain (PAP) ont été résolus conformément aux valeurs, règles et règlements établis de l’Union africaine.
L’APPN rappelle que la session électorale de mai du PAP s’est terminée dans le chaos et/ou le désordre, en raison de désaccords entre certaines régions sur l’application du principe de rotation dans l’élection du président du Parlement. L’APPN félicite le Président de la CUA, S.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, d’avoir mis sur pied la délégation d’enquête qui s’est rendue au Secrétariat du PAP et a présenté un rapport d’étape contenant des recommandations de grande portée. Le rapport de la délégation a servi de base aux décisions et recommandations des organes
politiques. Les différentes interventions ont abouti à la décision de la 39ème Session ordinaire du Conseil exécutif de l’Union africaine à Addis-Abeba, Éthiopie que seules les régions qui n’ont pas eu l’occasion de diriger le Parlement seraient admissibles à présenter des candidats à l’élection reprise du bureau qui sera menée et gérée par le Bureau du conseiller juridique.
L’APPN exhorte les parlementaires à accepter la résolution de la question de bonne foi et à se concentrer désormais sur les questions qui favorisent une Afrique unie au lieu de s’attarder sur les questions qui tendent à nous diviser. Il s’agit notamment de la fabrication de vaccins contre la COVID-19 et de médicaments connexes en Afrique, des défis liés au chômage chez les jeunes, au sousdéveloppement, à la pauvreté, à l’insécurité et à la promotion de la démocratie participative. L’APPN saisit cette occasion pour appeler tous les parlements nationaux qui n’ont pas encore ratifié le Protocole de Malabo à le faire pour donner au Parlement panafricain les pouvoirs législatifs nécessaires. L’APPN assure le Conseil exécutif de l’Union africaine (UA), et le PAP de son soutien et de sa collaboration indéfectibles en fournissant de la publicité et de l’éducation à tous les citoyens africains sur le continent sur les activités du PAP pour le rendre très pertinent pour eux.
