Sammy is the founding Executive Director of Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica), leading the Organisation’s work across the Continent. He has coordinated the planning and execution of programs for legislators, parliamentary staff, civil society organisations, as well as parliamentary journalists in more than 30 countries in Africa and beyond. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the Parliamentary Newspaper, and worked with the Parliament of Ghana and Development Gateway International before joining PNAfrica.
Currently, Sammy also doubles as Secretary-General of the Africa Parliamentary Monitoring Organisations Network, Head of Secretariat for the Africa Parliamentary Press Network, and Vice Chairman of Ghana’s Right to Information Coalition.
As a thought leader on issues of open parliaments, Open Government Partnership (OGP), access to information, parliament-media-CSO relations, how parliaments work and opportunities to engage, he has presented at various platforms across the world, including the Pan-African Parliament, World Forum for Democracy, OGP Summits among others. He is a proud alumnus of the Open Government Partnership Leadership Collaborative and the French Government Future Leaders Invitation Program (Programme d’invitation des personnalités d’avenir).
Sammy studied Economics with Human Resource Management towards a first degree, and has since received advanced certificates in Communication & Governance from the Knutsford University College and Civil Society Law in Africa from the University of Pretoria. He is currently studying Law with the University of London.
