BENJAMIN OPOKU ARYEH
Senior Programmes Officer

Benjamin Opoku Aryeh is a Senior Programme Officer at Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica), a civil society parliamentary monitoring organisation (PMO) that promotes open parliament across Africa. In this role, Benjamin oversees the Research and Advocacy Unit of PNAfrica, where he coordinates research initiatives such as the Open Parliament Index (OPI); and other parliamentary research projects that assess the effectiveness parliamentarians and the relationship between parliamentarians and their constituents. 

He coordinates PNAfrica’s largest regional PMO network – the Africa Parliamentary Monitoring Organisations Network (APMON) – working closely with civil society organisations (CSOs) that work with national, sub-national and regional parliaments to advance parliamentary democracy in Africa.

In his early career, Benjamin worked with the Department of Social Welfare (Accra Magistrate Court) as a Probation Officer/Social Worker, where he built strong investigative, research and writing skills through working on general maintenance, child support and family welfare cases involving children, women, and juveniles.

He joined PNAfrica in 2018 as a Research Intern, learning the rudiments and expertise associated with legislative monitoring and research, and coordinating PNAfrica’s daily monitoring of Ghana’s Parliament.

Benjamin has served as a Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer where he coordinated PNAfrica’s national and regional research, and parliamentary assessment, and coordinated high-level civil society engagements with parliaments and diverse policy-makers across Africa to promote parliamentary transparency and accountability, and advocate for citizens’ voices to be integrated into the legislative process. Among the projects he has managed are those funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and National Democratic Institute (NDI).

Benjamin is completing a Master of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Ghana and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He also holds a diploma in Social Work from the School of Social Work, Osu-Accra. His educational background, combined with technical proficiency in research and writing underscores his ability to write winning grant proposals and help C-suite professionals to craft compelling career stories that attract global opportunities.
