QATAR 2022: MPS MAKE STATEMENT OF HOPE FOR THE BLACK STARS AHEAD OF PORTUGAL ENCOUNTER

Members of Parliament in Ghana have sent words of encouragement to the members of the Senior National Team, the Ghana Black Stars to go ahead and play their heart out to win their maiden game at the World Cup in Qatar 2022, against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

The statement was initiated by the Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee of Parliament, Kwaku Agyenim Boateng, with the title: Statement of Hope for The Senior National Soccer Team.

The Members of Parliament from both sides took their turns to share their words of encouragement for the team to go out there and do their best for the country.

They called on them to emulate the example shown by the team of Saudi Arabia for coming against one of the best teams in the tournament, Argentina led by Lionel Messi, and still managed to win against them.

The MPs joined their voices to call on Ghanaians to rally around the flag of Ghana behind the Blackstars and to give them the maximum support as they participate in this World Cup tournament in Qatar.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Sumana Bagbin and some MPs are all dressed up in the national colours in readiness of the game which is scheduled for 4 pm later in the day.

Despite the world cup fever and the Blackstar mood which is visible among the MPs, the Speaker had to ask MPs who had breached the dress code of Parliament by coming to the Chamber with just Black Star replica jerseys.

He said, “There are some strangers in our midst. We will not begin sitting today until they go out.” The guilty MPs had no choice but to exit the Chamber before the House began.

Also, before the House could get underway with any business, the Speaker informed the House that, the President has sent message that he is out of the country to Dohar, Qatar to support the Black Stars at the invitation of the Government of Qatar.
