About the PAVE Project

The rice and cashew sectors are very integral to the economy of ECOWAS countries and therefore deserve more attention to gain a place in the agendas of key stakeholders. The demand for rice alone in the region has been growing faster than anywhere else in the world, yet the increase in demand cannot be met by local or regional production. The cashew value chain, on the other hand, offers an important potential to create jobs and wealth and address the problem of climate change through smart agriculture. One of the ways to ensure the impact of rice and cashew production and processing is sustained in the ECOWAS region is through gaining the attention of decision-makers to secure the necessary support for favourable policies and laws. The Policy Advocacy and Visibility Engagements (PAVE) project, therefore, provides a strategic and timely intervention to advance the visibility of cashew and rice production and processing and facilitate engagement among stakeholders within decision-making circles.
In other to achieve this Objective of the project Policy Advocacy and Visibility Engagement (PAVE), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has financed by a Grant Agreement thereby offering a very significant support to implement the measures and Activities listed in the Proposal for Project Implementation.
