Guided by The Declaration on Parliamentary Openness, which is a call to national parliaments, and sub-national and transnational legislative bodies, by civil society parliamentary monitoring organizations (PMOs) for an increased commitment to openness and to citizen engagement in parliamentary work, our Open Parliament Programme (OPP) involves a number of projects currently being implemented with the Parliaments of Ghana and Sierra Leone on the need to ensure that these Parliaments are open.
Mindful of our vision to become “Africa’s most impactful nonprofit that ensures open parliaments across the entire continent”, we work with various partners to make parliamentary information more accessible to citizens, as we seek to strengthen the capacity of citizens to participate in parliamentary processes in order to improve parliamentary accountability. This we do through collaborative dialogue initiatives with the Parliaments of our project countries. We have a goal of growing the OPP portfolio to all countries on the continent of Africa.
