Ethiopia: Parliament ends State of Emergency

Cape Town — Ethiopia lifted the state of emergency first imposed in October 2016, according to Addis Standard. An emergency session by members of parliament was called to make the decision on Friday.

The House of Representatives had previously voted unanimously to extend the state of emergency by four months in March 2017. The emergency was first declared in October 2016.
